Praised by the Los Angeles Times for his “dizzying execution” and “exceeding vitality and warmth,” he has performed in recital and as guest soloist with orchestras in virtually every major American city, as well as throughout Europe and Asia. He is a founding member of the multiple Grammy-winning Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. He tours and records extensively both as a soloist and with the LAGQ. www.kanengiser.com

Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble Saturday, January 19, 7:00 PM
The Louisiana Repertory Jazz Ensemble was formed in 1980 to perform classic New Orleans jazz as it was originally played. These veteran musicians play on now rare instruments of the period and perform both well-known and forgotten musical treasures in their original format, from the great jazz era 1890-1930. Whether recovered from archival manuscripts or rare printed scores, reconstructed from early recordings, or passed down from the old jazz players, the arrangements of the Rep,- as the band is known – transport the listener to an earlier age. The band is the performing arm of the renowned Hogan Jazz Archive of Tulane University. www.louisianajazz.com

Chris Brubeck and Triple Play Friday, February 22, 7:00PM
Triple Play brings a rare level of joy and virtuosity to the folk, jazz, funk, blues and classical music they perform. Chris Brubeck (bass, trombone, piano) first distinguished himself as a jazz musician performing with his father, jazz legend Dave Brubeck. He tours with the Brubeck Brothers Quartet and records with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, as well as performing with symphony orchestras. Peter “Madcat” Ruth (harmonica, jaw harp, percussion) is called by Performance Magazine “a harmonica virtuoso who is approaching legendary status.” Joel Brown (folk and classical acoustic guitar) performs as a soloist with major orchestras throughout the world. www.brubeckmusic.com

Dallas Brass Sunday, March 9, 7:00 PM
Since its founding in 1983, Dallas Brass has become one of America’s foremost musical ensembles. The group consists of a unique blend of brass instruments with a full compliment of drums and percussion, which creates a performing entity of extraordinary range with the ability to take on the most challenging compositions. The Dallas Brass concert, American Musical Journey, treats the audience to a musical travelogue through American history. From early times to the present day, music will be selected from the masters – Copeland, Bernstein, Berlin, Sousa, John Williams; from bands like Tijuana Brass and Chicago’ and styles from Dixieland, swing, Broadway, folk, patriotic, pop, and even hip hop! Dallas Brass has a strong commitment to music in the schools and they will be doing a residency, which is made possible through Mississippi Music, Accent Instruments, and the Southern Arts Federation. www.dallasbrass.com

Jay Ungar and Molly Mason Sunday, April 13, 7:00 PM
Since combining their enormous talents in the late 70’s, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason have become a celebrated duo on the American music scene. Their music incorporates violin, mandolin, guitar, banjo and piano, often spanning two centuries and two continents. Their performance of Jay’s haunting composition “Ashokan Farewell,” the musical hallmark of the Ken Burns PBS series “The Civil War,” is one of the most recognizable and memorable pieces in recent American music. Whether hard-driving Appalachian, Cajun or Celtic fiddle tunes, stirring Civil War period classics, sassy songs from the golden age of swing and country or a tender waltz, Jay and Molly’s music will warm your heart and feed your soul. www.jayandmolly.com
